Why I created this blog…
So some of you are probably wondering why I created this blog, well there are a few reason but they can all be summarised by two words Personal Development. This blog is a convenient unison of a few skills that I wish to improve on.
Firstly, i’m using it to gain more experience with Linux. My recent professional move to Datasift has made me realise how lacking I am in this area. This website is running on a CentOS VPS that I am renting from OVH, I have installed and configured everything needed to run this site from scratch and it was excellent practise of various linux commands that I’m now getting proficient in. I’m now looking for another linux project to expand my skills to if anyone has any ideas then let me know!
Secondly, Writing. My entire life I has always leaned towards the more technical subjects, Maths, Sciences, Computers etc and away from the more creative ones. Although I can make do when it comes to writing it has never been my forte and I’ve avoided it where possible, not any more! With this blog I am challenging myself to improve my writing with the simple act of practise.
Finally, Design/UX. These creative subjects are also something that I have avoided in the past and I’m hoping to again learn by doing. I’m planning to tweak and improve this blog as well as creating others.
So any feedback/constructive criticism will always be appreciated (my email is in the about me section).
As for what is going to be on this blog, I’ll do another post about that soon but check out the about me section for a few hints.
